LaSalle Athletes Support Staples “Share a Dollar, Share a Dream Campaign”
On Saturday, November 8, 2008, LaSalle athletes attended the Staples Business Depot Store on Walker Road, in Windsor, and helped solicit donations from customers through Staples’ Share a Dollar, Share a Dream campaign. Staples is a corporate sponsor of Special Olympics across Canada, and all funds raised from this national campaign goes to Special Olympics. For helping with the campaign at the local store, LaSalle Special Olympics will receive $250.
Lenny Soresi, Jasmyn Kersey, and Matthew Cormier took the early shift at the store. Store employees and their volunteers had a table of baked goods and donation boxes set up. Lenny helped guard the table for a period of time (and I think he may have eaten some of the goods). Jasmyn and Matthew worked with the cashiers at the checkouts, trying to get as many customers to donate as possible.
The later shift was held down by Jenny and Chris Pringle, along with Dan Morton. We need some pictures from this group for the website.
Thanks for your help athletes!

“K of C Councils give Spirited Donations”
On Saturday, November 8 2008, the Knights of Columbus chapters in Essex County held their annual banquet at the K of C hall in McGregor, and LaSalle Special Olympics were a major recipient of their generosity.
LaSalle Community Coordinator Jim Wright, Coach Pat Wright, along with athletes Matthew Cormier and Vanessa Malott, were on hand to receive cheques totalling $1,950.00 from the Grand Knights of the various Councils .The donations will be used to assist the LaSalle group in providing athletic opportunities for club members.
Prior to the donation ceremony, Jim spoke to those in attendance about the Special Olympics movement, including the exciting 2009 Provincial Summer Games coming to Windsor. Matthew and Vanessa spoke about their experiences with Special Olympics, and were true ambassadors of the LaSalle Spirit!
